ShareSMS is an Android messaging app that helps you organise, protect and manage your SMS. This policy explains what the app accesses, what stays on your device, and the limited cases where information leaves it — always at your choice.

The short version: Sorting, labelling, bill‑parsing and scam‑detection all run on your device. Your SMS messages and contacts stay on your phone and are never uploaded. The app sends our server only basic device and SIM details (which can include your phone number) so the web portal can work. Forwarded messages go as normal SMS from your own SIM, and only when you create a rule. We never sell your data and we show no ads.

Who we are

This policy applies to the ShareSMS Android app (Google Play package com.sharesms.app), published on Google Play by Greenwire Infocom Solutions Private Limited — the developer shown on the app’s Google Play store listing — and to its websites sharesms.in and web.sharesms.in. Greenwire Infocom Solutions Private Limited is referred to below as “we” or “us”. You can reach us at support@greenwire.in.

1. Information the app accesses

SMS messages. As a default SMS app, ShareSMS reads, receives, stores and sends SMS/MMS so it can show your inbox, sort messages, detect bills/OTPs, and (if you enable it) forward them.
Contacts. Read only on your device to show names instead of numbers, to let you pick recipients, to suggest frequently messaged contacts first, and to choose numbers for forwarding. Your contacts are never uploaded to our servers or shared with anyone.
Phone / SIM info. Used for dual‑SIM sending (the SIM you choose in Settings) and to associate messages with the right SIM.
Device & SIM details sent to our server. When the app is set up it registers your phone with our server so the web portal and “send from computer” can work. It sends the phone make and model, battery level, and the SIM label and network operator name. On some phones the SIM label is your phone number. These details are used only to operate the service (show your phone as online, send messages you request), are encrypted in transit, are never sold or shared with third parties, and are deleted on request.

2. What stays on your device

By default, all message processing is local: rule matching, labels, the Dues/To‑Do extraction from bill SMS, sender‑trust and scam checks, and mute/pin settings are computed and stored on your phone. This data is not sent to us.

3. What is transmitted — only when you choose

Forwarding (Filter rules). If you create a filter rule that forwards, matching messages are sent as normal SMS from your own SIM to the phone numbers you specify (operator charges may apply); they do not pass through our servers. One‑time passwords (OTPs) are excluded by default; if you deliberately enable OTP forwarding, each OTP is drafted and only sent when you tap Send.
Web portal / sync. If you pair the web portal (web.sharesms.in), your account and device details, and any messages you choose to send from the portal, are processed by our servers over an encrypted connection. Your SMS messages, contacts and inbox are not uploaded: incoming messages are never sent to our servers.

4. How we protect it

Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Access tokens are stored securely on the device. We restrict server access and retain synced data only as long as needed to provide the service.

5. What we do NOT do

We do not sell or rent your personal data.
We do not show advertising in your inbox.
We do not share your SMS content with third parties for their own purposes.

6. SMS & Call Log permissions

ShareSMS requests SMS permissions because it is a default SMS handler — it genuinely implements the inbox, conversation view, sending and notifications a default SMS app must provide. These permissions are used only to deliver the features described above and are never used for undisclosed purposes.

7. Your choices

Change your default SMS app at any time in Android settings.
Delete any rule, label, task, or forwarding rule inside the app.
Disconnect the web portal to stop syncing.
Uninstalling the app removes its on‑device data.

8. How to delete your data

ShareSMS keeps your messages, labels and settings on your device — the only data on our servers is the minimal device registration (device model, SIM label, carrier name and a device token) used to run the app and the “Link to Web” feature. You can remove your data at any time:

In the app: open Settings → Disconnect. This stops the service and clears the app’s settings and the link to our servers.
Uninstall ShareSMS. This removes all on‑device data — messages, labels, rules and settings.
By email: write to support@greenwire.in from any address and ask us to delete your device record. We will delete it and confirm.

We never upload your SMS content or contacts, so there is no message or contact data on our servers to delete — only the device registration described above.

9. Children

ShareSMS is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
